This will be called work, what you will come to know,
eventually and simply, as movement, as all the evidence you need to make your way.
Forget where you were. That story is no longer true.
Level your gaze to the trail you’re on, and now even the dark won’t stop you.
–Maya Stein
What Does this Deep Winter Hero’s Journey® Intensive Offer?
A Deep Dive Into The Call Of The Soul, An Entry Into Profound Psychological Processes, & Living Into One’s Personal Hero’s Journey® Myth
The Deep Work of living into a winter Hero’s Journey® is a particular emergence into initiatory practices that engage participants in vitalizing personal encounters, create the conditions for spontaneous emergences, and transform lifelong patterns and outdated, fixed identification with who you have believed yourself to be.
A Journey Intensive such as this is quite intimate and is therefore limited to ten participants. It offers a high quality of programming to become enlivened in a way that, at once, both undoes and reshapes a person’s deepest beliefs about oneself.
What is needed to bring a brand new orientation to a person’s internal world?
How do we revisit old and deadened internal states of being in a way that actually changes their chronic effects?
How do we work with a genuine sense of mystery – helping us to face the unimaginable and unforeseeable in the best possible ways – to create new futures for ourselves?
What is it that makes the creation of novelty and vitality become possible and livable, both for a group as a whole, and each individual within it?
These are the types of questions that we use as ‘compass headings‘ for our Winter Journey Intensive @ Lifebridge.
Certain people, who carry a deep longing within, and who sense themselves to be on the threshold of change – need the right conditions to ripen them, the right people to activate them, and the right processes to move them forward into their lives. We aim to provide all three.
What does it mean to ‘re-vitalize’ one’s being?
The term vitalization indicates a process by which an individual fosters their capacity for new possibilities and novel experiences. When we open ourselves to new experiences and go beyond what we already know, we have an opportunity to awaken new states of consciousness for ourselves in the presence of another.
We can be put into circumstances and conditions where we can be ‘ignited’ and enliven our internal processes, which comes about through in-depth encounters with a group of people who are each on their own personal journeys.
How do I know that I will have a deep and transformative life experience during this Journey Intensive?
The paradox of this type of journey is that there is no guarantee of any kind that real and lasting change will come from one’s participation in this Journey Intensive. But it has been our experience, over many years of doing this work, that such deep and transformative encounters and experiences are inevitable.
They come about not through one’s will or determination, but by a gradual deepening process of profound ego surrender, where the call of the soul comes through spontaneously and in any given moment during the Journey Intensive, and is witnessed by those who are also in attendance.
Who is this Journey Intensive for? What prior experience does a person need to benefit from this deep winter’s Journey Intensive?
Any woman or man who has obtained some prior emotional self-awareness, and prior (or current) experience with psychotherapy, or other forms of process work are recommended.
A person should be familiar with the dynamics of their own inner work, have the capacity to support and hold space for another’s inner process, and be open to face challenges that can arise in transformational group settings.
This helps to ensure that all gendered and non-gendered participants are equipped to engage with deep psychic material in a grounded, realistic, self-responsible, and newly meaningful ways.

Deep Winter Journey Processes
The journeying processes that will be engaged during this winter intensive are likely to be quite compelling, intriguing, and mind-bending in surprising ways for each person who is fully immersed in the journeying process, and for the group at large.
“The goal is not insight or understanding alone, but rather a transformation, a radical change in people’s nature as they come into contact with the frozen parts of themselves that are yearning to be reached, known and recognized – a change which is always a result of an interaction.”
Deep Winter Journeying Format
A Dynamic Synthesis of Inner Depth Work, Emergent Psychological Processes, & The Hero’s Journey® Myth
Each Journey Intensive day follows a consistent structure:
- Optional early morning (pre-breakfast) hikes or indoor yoga sequences.
- Mornings are spent in emergent group processes, and consist of guided centering meditations, highly enlivening interpersonal exchanges and encounters.
- Afternoons also consist of group processes, followed by time for solitude, journaling and quiet reflection – or for spontaneous, integrative conversations before dinner.
- Evenings consist of ritual/ceremonial experiences that deepen the impressions made from the day’s content and process.
- Opportunities are given to reflect on the significant moments of the day, and further our connections to one another. Each evening ends by 9:00pm.
“There is another world;
But it is in this one.”
– Paul Eluard
The rabbit snare exists because of the rabbit,
once you have the rabbit,
you can forget the snare.
Words exist because of the meaning,
once you have the meaning,
you can forget the words.
Where can I find a person who has
forgotten the words so I can
have a word with them?
– Chaung Tsu
