Our Board Members
The Hero’s Journey® Foundation Board is composed of visionary leaders dedicated to guiding the organization’s mission and ensuring its sustainability.
With diverse expertise spanning nonprofit management, education, business, and transformational work, our board members provide the strategic oversight and governance needed to steward both our programs and Lifebridge Sanctuary.
Their commitment and leadership help nurture the foundation’s growth, ensuring we remain a source of inspiration and transformation for all who engage with our work.
David Baycura
David Baycura is a seasoned real estate professional with decades of experience in master-planned communities, resort developments, institutional core assets, adaptive reuse projects, and for-sale residential properties. As the founder of Sundance Properties, established in 1998, David has led boutique residential developments, blending creativity and precision to transform niche markets.
His career highlights include serving as EVP and Director of Development with JLC Southeast, overseeing large-scale mixed-use redevelopments, and as Regional VP for Summit Properties, a publicly traded REIT, where he managed $115M in apartment projects and contributed to the company’s IPO preparation.
David has been a program facilitator with the Hero’s Journey® Foundation for eight years and joined the board in 2024, where he brings his real estate development expertise to the foundation’s stewardship of Lifebridge Sanctuary. His vision and leadership support the sanctuary’s role as a space for transformation and connection.
Mino Capossela
Mino Capossela spent the first 25 years of his career in finance. For the past ten years, he has split time between supporting a handful of small private companies and working with several non-profits.
Mino attended his first Hero’s Journey® retreat over 20 years ago. Mino has been a board member of the Hero’s Journey® Foundation since its inception in 2010, contributing his leadership to support personal and collective growth.
Guinevere Johnson
Guinevere Johnson is an empathy-driven activist and human rights advocate with a unique professional background bridging the nonprofit sector and holistic healthcare. Passionate about fostering personal transformation and collective awakening, she has served as a Board Member of The Hero’s Journey® Foundation since 2021, supporting individuals in building resilience, self-compassion, and purpose.
As the founder of My Longing Heart, Guinevere applies her expertise as a Brennan Healing Science Practitioner to help clients navigate transitions, release energy blockages, and cultivate self-love. She views healing as a collaborative journey, empowering individuals to embrace their deepest intentions and thrive.
Michael Mervosh

Michael Mervosh is the founder of The Hero’s Journey® Foundation and the visionary behind its transformative offerings. Michael has designed and implemented all of the foundation’s Journey programs, serving as the site director and lead facilitator for the Men’s Journey Intensives and Weekend Immersions.
A licensed psychologist with decades of experience, Michael has maintained a well-established private psychotherapy practice in Pittsburgh, PA, while also training and teaching across the United States and Europe. He is also a writer, using his craft to explore themes of transformation, resilience, and human connection.
Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, both from the University of Pittsburgh. His dedication to personal and collective growth has shaped The Hero’s Journey® Foundation into a cornerstone of transformational work, guiding individuals through profound life transitions with courage and authenticity.
Sophia Piliouras
Sophia M. Piliouras is the Chief Operating Officer and Corporate Secretary of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA), where she leads operations, programming, and strategic partnerships for the nation’s leading advisor on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in corporate America. A seasoned attorney and expert in organizational leadership, Sophia is dedicated to empowering leaders to implement sustainable DEI strategies and drive meaningful change.
Sophia’s career spans impactful roles, including Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at JP Morgan Chase and litigator at Seyfarth Shaw LLP.
Since 2024, Sophia has served as a Board Member of the Hero’s Journey® Foundation, contributing her leadership and vision to support the foundation’s work in fostering growth and meaningful connection.
Sophia holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Wisconsin, an M.S. in Construction Administration from Columbia University, and a J.D. from New York Law School.
Cam Van Fossen
Cam Van Fossen is the Executive Director of the Hero’s Journey® Foundation, bringing nearly two decades of experience in the nonprofit sector to the organization’s mission. A results-driven, collaborative leader, Cam is committed to advancing economic and social equity through inclusive and sustainable approaches.
With a proven track record in scaling organizational impact, managing crises and change, and fostering person-centered, community-driven leadership, Cam’s transparent management style is grounded in authenticity, trust, and deep community engagement. Their expertise spans nonprofit management, fundraising, strategic planning, finance, operations, equity work, and team culture development.
Cam’s roots in community organizing shape their dedication to systemic change, and they are an accomplished public speaker and writer. Cam is adept at fostering connections across diverse communities. As our foundation’s Executive Director, Cam guides its transformative work, ensuring alignment with its values and vision for growth and impact.
