Hero’s Journey® Programs

Hero’s Journey® programs are immersive, experiential encounters that invite people into a deeper engagement with themselves, with one another, and with life itself. Our Journeys create the conditions for genuine discovery through meaningful participation, authentic relationship, and courageous lived experience, allowing each person’s path to unfold in its own way.

Each Journey we offer its own experience and invitation. Some take place in the wilderness, others at our retreat center home- Lifebridge Sanctuary-  or some are global online communities. Some engage the imagination through myth, music, and creativity. Others cultivate profound psychological processes and transformative encounters.

Together, all our offerings share a common understanding: lasting change emerges through experience, participation, and the willingness to engage fully in the Journey.

Whether you find yourself standing at a threshold, searching for renewed vitality, or sensing that life is asking something new of you, our programs invite you to step beyond the familiar and known,  and discover what becomes possible through wholehearted participation in your Hero’s Journey®.

Check our calendar of events to find out what’s calling you to adventure.

The Hero’s Journey® is more than a story. It is a living pattern of human becoming. Our programs invite you to enter that pattern for yourself, allowing the timeless movements of Departure, Initiation, and Return to unfold through your own lived experience.

What is a Hero’s Journey®?

The Hero’s Journey® follows the universal and timeless pattern articulated by teacher, historian, and mythologist Joseph Campbell. Across cultures and throughout history, human beings have heard a call to adventure, left behind the familiar, and ventured into a wider unknown world. Along the way, they have faced uncertainty, crossed thresholds, encountered allies and adversaries, discovered unexpected strengths, and been transformed by the very experiences that challenged them. Joseph Campbell called this the “monomyth” – it’s a tool for narrative structure found the world over, and in stories carried across time.

Every Hero’s Journey® unfolds through three essential movements: Separation, Initiation, and Return.

We believe that the true power of the Journey lies in an opportunity to live into this pattern, not simply understanding it.

Through meaningful encounters, shared experience, and wholehearted participation, we discover capacities that may have remained dormant, learn to meet life’s challenges in brand new ways, and become more deeply alive to ourselves and the world around us.

The Journey is completed in the Return. We come home carrying what we have discovered, ready to integrate new ways of thinking, relating, creating, leading, and living into our everyday lives. The adventure continues, not because we have become someone else, but because we have become more fully ourselves.

Every Journey Begins with a Call to Adventure

Often, a Journey starts with the unsettling sense that something is asking for your attention.

Perhaps you’re longing to become more fully alive. Perhaps you’re searching for greater meaning, deeper relationships, renewed creativity, or the courage to step into an unknown chapter of your life.

Whatever form the call takes, every Hero’s Journey® begins by acknowledging it.

Explore the Journeys on our current calendar lineup and notice which one speaks to you.

The Heros Journey weeklong immersion is like no other experience I have ever had. It weaves the mysterious, adventurous, and mythic into one life enhancing and enlivening week. There are no words to describe my uplifted being as a result of my time on the mountain. My only suggestion is if you feel the call, go!

The Hero’s Journey Foundation has offered me experiences that far surpass anything I ever imagined possible for my life. Through the Women’s Journey, as well as the Co-Ed Fall Immersion, I’ve connected more courageously to my voice, my soul, and my wisdom. I’ve found a place of belonging amongst a community of loving, vibrantly alive people, who have become dear friends and allies. It is a community truly unlike any other. It’s impossible to describe exactly what happens on the mountain, but through my active participation, my life continues to be enriched and enlivened in unexpected ways.

I see mythic journeys everywhere and making the invisible visible is very cool and comforting. There is real and permanent benefit in finding meaning in suffering and there is something so healing by being fully present to that in myself and others. I am more courageous more often. In general, these days I see life as a grand adventure but rooted in my day-to-day existence where miracles await: often it’s a subtle change in perception that opens up new, wide vistas. Specifically, my creativity has kicked into a higher gear. While feedback is always welcome I found that the act itself of putting my writing out there was what mattered most. I am much, much, much (did I say much?) more willing to let something organically emerge.
